PRESIDENT'S
MESSAGE

A Century of Service

The members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Eta Omega Chapter warmly welcome you to our website. Since 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha has led in its mission to provide “service to all mankind,” with lifechanging programs and partnerships. Our local chapter, chartered 100 years ago by six phenomenal women, has marched along that same path of supreme service. That’s why, all throughout 2022, we will celebrate A CENTURY OF SERVICE through programs and 100 Acts of Excellent Service to the Greater Louisville Community.

Since Eta Omega's inception in 1922, we have been proactive, productive, and visible - positively impacting children, students and entire families through such offerings as the Plymouth Raffle, Little Miss AKA Cotillion, Minority Educators Symposium and the Kentucky Education Reform Act (KERA) Parent Forum. Over the years, you may have also seen our members standing up for social justice, driving for health equity and advancing educational enrichment.  We read to children in need; provide winter coats for families; educate our community about the need to vote. We mentor, sponsor and show up for middle school girls.

We take our legacy of sisterhood and excellent service very seriously because we firmly believe it is our duty to continue to strengthen the Black family and uplift our community.  This is heart work, and all Alpha Kappa Alpha women make a life-long commitment to this purpose.

Under the leadership of our President, Danette Anthony Reed, Eta Omega Chapter embraces our International Program theme Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood, which includes six program initiatives:  the foundation Strengthen Our Sisterhood, Empower Our Families, Build Our Economic Wealth, Enhance Our Environment, Advocate for Social Justice, and Uplift Our Local Community.  Alpha Kappa Alpha’s signature program #CAPSM (College Admissions Process) was designed to assist high school juniors and seniors in their efforts to enter college.  Eta Omega’s partnership with the Hortense B. Perry Foundation helps provide scholarships for college-bound youth - supporting the vision of our international focus.

To our sisters who are looking for a chapter home, the more than 360 members of our chapter are here for you and ready to roll out the pink carpet! Connect through our site membership page for meeting information.

Finally, please visit our website for upcoming events, updates and opportunities to serve and celebrate Eta Omega’s Century of Service!

Faithfully in service,

Lynetta Crawford
